READING TUTORING

Highly structured, individualized learning plans for students using both the Orton–Gillingham Approach and the Wired for Reading Program, focusing on understanding how language works and how to connect sounds to letters for reading and spelling. An initial assessment of the student’s current reading and spelling skills is completed, followed by the design of lessons that build on what the student already knows. Each session follows a multisensory format, where the student sees, hears, says, and writes letters and words to strengthen memory through different learning pathways.

During lessons, new concepts are introduced in a systematic and explicit manner, with rules and patterns carefully explained. Concepts are taught in a logical sequence, starting with basic phonics and gradually moving toward more advanced skills, such as multi-syllable words, prefixes, and suffixes. Lessons provide consistent review and reinforcement of previously learned material, promoting mastery and confidence.

A diagnostic and prescriptive approach is taken throughout the process, closely observing the student’s responses, identifying areas of difficulty, and adapting instruction to meet individual needs. The goal is to help students develop strong decoding, spelling, and comprehension skills through clear, cumulative, and multisensory teaching that makes reading and writing more accessible and meaningful.

ACADEMIC TUTORING

Literacy skills are strengthened through personalized instruction in reading comprehension, writing, grammar, vocabulary, and spelling using individual lesson plans or the students’ current academic schoolwork. Students of all ages and abilities work to build a solid foundation in language arts and foster confidence in their communication skills. Reading and writing skills are evaluated to determine each student’s strengths and areas for growth, followed by the creation of personalized lesson plans tailored to their learning style and academic goals. Key skills are taught, including reading comprehension strategies, fluency, vocabulary development, text analysis, and effective writing techniques, such as grammar, sentence structure, and essay organization. Evidence-based instructional methods, such as the Orton–Gillingham approach and the Wired for Reading Program, are employed when appropriate to support struggling or dyslexic readers. Students receive constructive feedback and ongoing progress monitoring in a supportive, engaging environment that fosters motivation and confidence.

EXECUTIVE FUNCTIONING

TUTORING

Lessons focus on improving essential cognitive and organizational skills necessary to manage time effectively, complete tasks efficiently, and become independent in school and daily life. Beneficial for individuals who struggle with planning, prioritizing, organization, focus, and self-regulation skills. Assessments of the individual’s current executive functioning abilities are conducted to identify specific challenges, such as procrastination, difficulty starting assignments, or trouble staying organized. Lessons are individualized and focus on teaching practical strategies for goal setting, time management, note-taking, studying, and breaking large tasks into manageable steps. Individuals work on building self-awareness and problem-solving skills, enabling them to monitor their progress and adjust their strategies as needed. Throughout the process, a supportive and consistent learning environment is maintained to encourage accountability and foster confidence and independence.
